Neurogenesis is a process which produces new neuron cells in the hippocampus which is a part of our brain. This study shows that running increases neurogenesis which means we make more brain cells when we run. This also prevents brain aging. It also increases connection between cells. As Heidi Godman, Executive Editor of Harvard Health Letter, stated in this blog “The benefits of exercise come directly from its ability to reduce insulin resistance, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the release of growth factors.”

What you need to do is

You need to start exercising on a regular basis. It does not matter which type of exercise you do. The only thing matters is that you do it regularly. This way you will feel more energetic and focused for a period of time and for the long term. Moreover you will decelerate your brain’s aging process. You can walk, run through the park or you can just go to the gym and build-up muscles. You can do yoga or pilates. Whatever you want! To support the exercise you do, make sure you have enough Omega-3 fatty acids for your brain and enough protein for your muscle growth.
